Berke Bates Memorial Award

At every Jeremy’s Game since he was killed in the line of duty the Berke Bates Memorial Award for Valor is given to a member of Law Enforcement. Trooper Bates played in Jeremy’s Game two months prior to his death

The First Awardee was Deputy Quinn Pasi and K-9 Sgt. Bane from the Powhatan Sheriff’s Department. K-9 Bane was instrumental in finding two missing children and safely returning them home.

The second awardee was Deputy Greer Fullerton and his K-9 Partner Loki. Loki and Deputy Fullerton were instrumental in the apprehension of an armed robbery and a murder suspect in Dinwiddie County.

The third awardee was Senior Virginia State Trooper B.S. Butchyk and his K-9 Partner Jethro. Jethro and Trooper Butchyk were instrumental in the locating over 4 dozen missing children and reuniting over 150 families. K-9 Jethro served the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia for over 8 human years and responded to over 1400 calls for service. K-9 Jethro is enjoying a well deserved retirement with Trooper Butchyk’s family.
